The Boy Scouts of America voted Thursday to allow openly gay scouts to join the organization, to take effect January 1.

On the opening day of its two-day meeting in Dallas, Texas, roughly 1,400 volunteer leaders from scouting’s 270 councils approved the BSA’s proposal. However, the organization’s ban on gay adults will continue.

Outside the conference center where the national council was meeting, dozens of Christian conservatives waved flags and demonstrated against the change.

“We’re trying to uphold traditional values,” Bill Lizzio, a 56-year-old scout leader from Tennessee, told The New York Times.

There is still work to be done. We need to allow LGB adults to participate. We need to allow trans scouts and leaders. We need to change the homophobic culture of organizations rooted in conservative values.

But for now, we rejoice in this small, but significant victory. Way to go, guys.

Really cool and strong badass fakemon I made. Please don’t steal. These are potential Fire-type starters for the 6th Gen (not official but I will be sending them to Game Freak for consideration). They are Ellit (Fire), Elehit (Fire/Fighting), and Flarephit (Fire/Fighting). They’re based on elephants and wrestlers and they use fire to hurt their enemies. They are really strong and have very big attack. What do you think?

So I had my therapy appointment

I don’t even remember being so fucking anxious before… Okay so… Originally my bro and I were to walk there together cause we had no car, but family problems for her came up and I was dropped off at the building. I had no trouble with that cause I wanted to go in the appointment alone anywho, and family troubles come before my shit, so IT WAS TOTALLY COOL. Like.. I was ready, I was pumped.

Soon as I walked in the building it just came crashing down.

It was the one time I didn’t have my music with me and holy shit. I don’t think I should ever go somewhere without my music…It’s like my escape I guess? I just didn’t want to be called my birthname or seen as female…

But luckily, my therapist was really nice… She asked all kinds of questions and asked about if I had a history of feeling like a boy back in my childhood. It’s funny cause I started remembering how often I’d imagine myself as a boy.

But it was… idk… I was choking in a way, unable to breathe cause my throat was in pain from holding back random tears. I was so stressed and scared man. It was odd… I never felt so shaken. I mean I’ve gotten the shakes bad before, but this was different I guess.

Even through that, my therapist was really kind and stuff. She understands the whole trans stuff and that makes me really happy. She said she won’t refer to me by birthname or female pronouns, and that… ugh, set me at ease.

I honestly can’t wait to go back cause I felt better after. It was nice and junk… She even had a mini zen garden <3 I asked if I could play with it… but I waited till the ass end of the session cause it was difficult to how to ask… BUT YEAH. I’m stoked, really.

And Soon as I move out, I can like…begin hormone therapy… it’s gonna be…well… damn… adventurous…

Be sure to look out for the Moon these next few months as it approaches Perigee, because the full moons during these times will appear exceptionally large. The Moon will be at its Perigee, or closest approach, in July 23 and it will reach full moon only a few minutes after it passes this point in its orbit.

These ‘super moons’ not only appear larger because they are physically closer but, combined with a full moon, the mind can play tricks on you to think they are much larger. This phenomena is called the Moon Illusion. Try to catch these full moons as they rise/set because the illusion works when there is an object in the foreground, like a tree, building or mountains.
